On February 4th, 2012, the DTM will again be present when the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe invites to the 42nd ’Ball des Sports’ in the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden. With its long-term partnership that was intensified last year, the most popular international touring car series is again involved in Europe’s most successful sport charity event in 2012 and stages the official after show party with its ’DTM Race Club’.
In anticipation of the London Olympics, this year’s motto is “A night for gold”. The 1,800 invitees can look forward to a spectacular programme that even includes a world record attempt, crowned by a performance of German-speaking hip-hop legends “Die Fantastischen Vier” during the midnight show. Around the official part, the prominent guests can try their hand at various sports at seven locations. Afterwards, the ’DTM Race Club’ invites to dance with star-DJ Julian Smith from Frankfurt. With the proceedings from the event, the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe supports skilful German athletes.
“The DTM’s involvement in the ’Ball des Sports’ is a matter of honour for us, which is why we are supporting this charity gala for the sixth straight year already. We are very proud of our partnership with Sporthilfe and of being a renowned part of this great event in Wiesbaden”, says Dr. Thomas Betzler, board member for legal and financial affairs of the ITR e.V., rights holder and promoter of the DTM. In his profession as a notary, Dr. Betzler will also ensure that the grand raffle during the evening will be held according to the regulations. With Walter Mertes and Jürgen Pippig, two further ITR board members will be present. The premium car manufacturers involved in the DTM will be represented by the heads of motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Audi) and Jens Marquardt (BMW).
Of course, the DTM is also submitting its sporting stars to this renowned event. This year, Audi drivers Rahel Frey and Timo Scheider will be present in Wiesbaden, together with Bruno Spengler and Dirk Werner on behalf of DTM returnee BMW as well as Mercedes-Benz driver Christian Vietoris. Many further top athletes and celebrities from various realms will also be attending the ’Ball des Sports’. Along with numerous European and World Champions, celebrities like Franziska van Almsick, Volker Bouffier, Wolfgang Bosbach, Heiner Brand, Fabian Hambüchen, Horst Heldt, Steffi Johns, Jutta Kleinschmidt, Felix Magath, Nico Rosberg, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and many others have announced their presence.
