Jose Alonso Liste admits he is fired up for tomorrow’s double-header at Rockingham as the Spaniard bids to overhaul current championship leader Maxime Jousse’s 59-point advantage at the top of the table.

After a solid opening to the 2010 season, Jose finds himself fourth in the standings, level on points with Dutchman Melroy Heemskerk and just two points behind Briton Nigel Moore in second.

The Spaniard has been in good form lately, picking up three podiums and one fourth place finish in his last four races. He looked in good touch again at Rockingham, setting the fifth fastest time in first practice before edging out Nigel Moore to go fastest in today’s final practice session.

“It’s been a good day, and I think I’m in a good position for tomorrow,” Alonso Liste declared. “I have a good balance with the car and I think that tomorrow we will have very similar conditions to today, so I’m confident I can stay in the top four in qualifying.

“I’m fired up for the races and I have a very good motivation, because I have had a good Friday showing here. In practice one I was fifth despite just doing ten laps, and then in second practice to be fastest was great!”

Alonso is yet to win this season, but his victory last year at Silverstone is testament to his underlying pace and he explained how he would be targeting the front again this weekend as he bids to strengthen his championship challenge.

“If I have a good weekend, and stay in front of Nigel Moore, then hopefully I can be second at the end of the weekend. There are only two points in it so it is very close, but today has given me a lot of confidence for tomorrow’s races.”
